Mingus Ah Um, recorded in May 1959 at Columbia 30th Street Studio and produced by Nesuhi Ertegun and Teo Macero, is one of Mingus's most celebrated hard bop sessions. This 2010 Not Now Music remastered 2xCD expands the original LP with tracks from The Clown (1957) and Pithecanthropus Erectus (1956). Highlights include Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, a tribute to Lester Young, and the politically charged Fables Of Faubus.
