Donald Byrd's Black Byrd, released on Blue Note in 1973, was produced and arranged by Larry Mizell -- his first collaboration with Byrd. Recorded at Sound Factory in Hollywood, it became Blue Note's best-selling album at the time of release. This is an original US pressing on blue/black labels. The title track and Sky High are standouts from a set that defined the jazz-funk crossover of the era.
