First UK pressing of the MJQ's self-titled 1955 10" LP on Esquire, their original London jazz imprint. Features Django, John Lewis's elegy for guitarist Django Reinhardt, which became one of the group's most recognised performances. The quartet -- Lewis, Milt Jackson, Percy Heath, and Kenny Clarke -- recorded these sides for Prestige in the early 1950s. Mono.
