Al Grey was Count Basie's lead trombonist from 1957, known for his plunger-mute technique. This Dutch EP on Funckler captures the Basie wing in a small-group setting, with Grey fronting the band on three tracks including a reading of the Ellington standard "Things Ain't What They Used to Be." Catalogue number 655017.
