Black Fire is Andrew Hill's debut album as leader, recorded November 1963 at Van Gelder Studio with Joe Henderson, Richard Davis, and Roy Haynes. Originally issued on Blue Note BST 84151, this 2004 EU reissue was remastered from 24-bit analog transfers by reissue producer Michael Cuscuna and adds two alternate takes not on the original release.
