Recorded in Paris in January 1979, Bird Fire is tenor saxophonist Archie Shepp's quintet tribute to Charlie Parker, produced by Gérard Terronès and released on his Impro label. Four Parker standards -- Lover Man, Au Privave, Parker's Mood, and Now's the Time -- each given extended treatment, running eight to eleven minutes apiece.
