Brigadier Jerry -- born Robert Russell -- was one of the leading deejays of Jamaica's early 1980s dancehall scene, known for his rapid-fire lyrical style and roots-conscious themes. "Roots Girl" is a 1984 Jamaican single on his own Jahlovemuzik imprint, self-produced and pressed as a 7". The B-side carries the instrumental version, standard for Jamaican singles of this period.
