Lloyd "Bullwackie" Barnes ran Wackies out of the Bronx from the early 1970s, producing a body of deep roots and lover's rock that built a devoted following. This 1991 Japanese CD release on Alpha Enterprise collects The Chosen Brothers vocal group recordings from the Wackies catalogue. "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" and "How Can I Be Sure" show the label's approach -- classic pop and soul standards recast in a reggae frame.
