Jazz Rap Volume One is a 1985 UK 12" on Calibre Records by Cargo, produced and arranged by Robert Ahwai and jazz organist Mike Carr. The vocal and instrumental mixes blend hip-hop cadences with jazz-funk foundations -- the "dedicated to the giants of jazz" credit signals the intent clearly. An early UK example of the jazz-rap crossover that would define the late 80s and early 90s.
