McRae set new lyrics to 13 Monk compositions -- including "Round Midnight", "Blue Monk", and "Ruby, My Dear" -- recorded in studio sessions in New York and live at the Great American Music Hall, San Francisco. Backed by a quartet including Charlie Rouse, who played with Monk's own band for over a decade.
