Carmen McRae recorded this Billie Holiday tribute in June--July 1961 for Columbia, two years after Holiday's death. Arranged and accompanied by Norman Simmons and produced by Teo Macero, it covers fourteen Holiday standards including "Strange Fruit", "God Bless the Child", and "Lover Man". This 1997 Columbia/Legacy remaster adds two bonus tracks. Michael Cuscuna oversaw the CD reissue production.
