Recorded live at The Jazz Workshop, San Francisco in June 1964, this captures Mingus's working band at full stretch across two extended pieces. "Meditation (For A Pair Of Wire Cutters)" references the civil rights era directly in its title. The 1986 OJC reissue restores the original Debut Records release, presenting both sides as single unedited performances running over 23 minutes each.
