Charlie Byrd was a Washington DC jazz guitarist known for fingerstyle technique rooted in classical guitar. This Dutch-pressed EP on Riverside -- manufactured and distributed by Fontana under licence from Interdisc S.A. -- collects four standards: Ellington's "In A Mellow Tone", John Lewis's "Django", Reinhardt's "Nuages", and Kurt Weill's "Speak Low". A compact showcase of Byrd's acoustic approach.
