Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra recorded The Ballad Of The Fallen in November 1982 at Tonstudio Bauer, Ludwigsburg, released on ECM 1248. Politically charged throughout, the album draws on Spanish Civil War anthems including Els Segadors and La Pasionaria, with Carla Bley contributing arrangements and piano. This West Germany-pressed CD predates reunification, making it an early ECM digital issue from the label's Ludwigsburg sessions.
