Recorded at Van Gelder Studio in 1962 and produced by Bob Thiele, this small-group session finds Basie leading a seven-piece stripped back from his big band. Originally released on Impulse!, this is the 1977 UK reissue on IMPL 8017. Highlights include a spare reading of "Oh, Lady Be Good" and the Basie original "Count's Place."
