Emile Ford & The Checkmates were one of the first Black British acts to reach number one in the UK, with "What Do You Want to Make Those Eyes at Me For" in 1959. This original UK Pye EP from 1960 features four tracks including "Red Sails in the Sunset" and "Send for Me", capturing the group's smooth rock and roll style at their commercial peak.
