Furry Lewis recorded this solo set in Memphis in October 1959, produced by Samuel Charters. It captures the guitarist -- born Walter Lewis in 1893 -- performing Delta and Memphis blues staples including Casey Jones and John Henry alongside original material. Released on Transatlantic's budget XTRA imprint in 1971, it remains a strong introduction to one of the key figures of the Memphis country blues tradition.
