Gil Mellé was a tenor saxophonist and vibraphonist whose Blue Note recordings from 1952--56 sit among the label's lesser-celebrated bop and cool jazz output. This 1998 limited edition 2xCD compiles his complete Blue Note fifties material -- originally spread across four 10" and one 12" LP -- all recorded at Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack. Reissue produced by Michael Cuscuna.
