My Jamaican Guy was lifted from Grace Jones's 1982 album Living My Life, produced by Alex Sadkin and Chris Blackwell for Island Records. This 1983 UK 12" (12 IS 103) pairs the A-side with a dub version and adds Cry Now, Laugh Later as a B-side exclusive. The track draws on Jones's Jamaican connections and reggae-influenced production style developed with Sly & Robbie.
