Gregory Isaacs released "If You See My Mary" in 1979 on African Museum, a label he ran to maintain control of his output during a prolific period in Jamaica. The 12" pairs the lovers rock vocal cut with "Mary's Special," a dub version on the flip. Isaacs produced and wrote both sides himself -- a self-sufficient setup he returned to throughout his career.
