Empyrean Isles is a 1964 Blue Note recording by Herbie Hancock, featuring his working quartet with Freddie Hubbard, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams. Produced by Alfred Lion and recorded at Van Gelder Studio, it introduced "Cantaloupe Island," later widely sampled in hip-hop. This EU reissue CD, produced by Michael Cuscuna, includes 24-bit remastered transfers plus two alternate takes not on the original BLP 4175.
