Originally recorded in 1954 and 1955, this Blue Note LP captures Horace Silver and Art Blakey co-leading the Jazz Messengers before Blakey took sole command of the group. Produced by Alfred Lion, it features hard bop staples "The Preacher" and "Doodlin'", both later widely covered. This 1985 US reissue was cut using Direct Metal Mastering (DMM).
