New Directions In Europe captures Jack DeJohnette's quartet live at the Willisau Jazz Festival, Switzerland, June 1979. Released on ECM in 1980 and produced by Manfred Eicher, this US pressing carries the Wakefield pressing plant stamp. The band -- featuring Lester Bowie, John Abercrombie, and Eddie Gomez -- moves through four extended post-bop and fusion pieces, including "Salsa For Eddie G" and the 18-minute "Bayou Fever."
