Jaco Pastorius's 1976 debut on Epic introduced the Florida bassist's fretless technique to a wide audience. Produced by Bobby Colomby, it features Herbie Hancock, Don Alias, and Hubert Laws among others. Highlights include the unaccompanied "Donna Lee" and the solo fretless showcase "Portrait of Tracy." Wayne Shorter appears on "Kuru / Speak Like a Child," a cover of the Hancock composition.
