The Payback is a double album by James Brown, originally released in January 1974 on Polydor. Recorded at International Recording in Augusta, Georgia, it features his tightest band -- Fred Wesley, Jabo Starks, and the JBs -- across eight extended cuts. This Polydor reissue (cat. no. 517 137-2) was remastered from the original master tapes at PolyGram Studios. The title track has been widely sampled in hip-hop.
