Johnny Dodds was a New Orleans clarinettist central to Chicago jazz in the 1920s. This 1956 UK London Records pressing -- part of the "Origins Of Jazz" series -- compiles Riverside-licensed recordings from 1926--27, including sides originally issued on Paramount and Gennett. Produced by Bill Grauer and Orrin Keepnews, it draws from sessions recorded in Chicago and Richmond, Indiana.
