Johnny Nash recorded "I Can See Clearly Now" in Jamaica in 1972 with backing from reggae session musicians, making it one of the first reggae-influenced records to reach mainstream pop audiences. Released on CBS in the UK (CBS S 8113), this original UK pressing hit #5 on the charts. Nash wrote, produced, and arranged the track himself. The B-side "How Good It Is" follows the same reggae-soul approach.
