Product Review:
Leroy Carr's Sloppy Drunk smooth, melodic prewar blues from a hugely influential vocalist-pianist.
Leroy Carr was an Indianapolis pianist and singer whose recordings with guitarist Scrapper Blackwell between 1928 and 1934 shaped the urban blues template. "How Long Blues" became one of the most covered songs in blues history, recorded by artists from Bumble Bee Slim to Eric Clapton. "Blues Before Sunrise" and "When The Sun Goes Down" were later covered by Elmore James and B.B. King respectively. This 1998 Catfish double CD pulls 44 remastered mono recordings.
