Lightnin' Hopkins recorded prolifically from the mid-1940s onward, and these 22 tracks -- drawn from 1946 to 1949 sessions -- capture his earliest recordings, largely from Aladdin Records. This 2000 Indigo Recordings compilation includes two tracks making their CD debut. "Katie Mae," "Tim Moore's Farm," and "Baby Please Don't Go" are among his most sampled cuts, appearing in work by artists including Moby and Dr. Dre.
