Esther Phillips recorded these sixteen tracks for King Records between 1951 and 1953, when she was still performing as Little Esther. This 1985 Charly R&B compilation draws from those original King sessions, licensed from Gusto Records. Highlights include her version of Hound Dog -- recorded two years before Elvis -- and the title track. Raw early R&B from one of the genre's most distinctive voices.
