Grits And Soul is a 1985 Charly R&B compilation drawing on Little Willie John's King Records recordings from 1955 to 1959. John recorded the original version of "Fever" -- later covered by Peggy Lee and Elvis Presley -- alongside "Need Your Love So Bad" and "Talk To Me, Talk To Me", both widely covered in subsequent decades. A solid overview of one of R&B's most distinctive voices from that period.
