Superb! From a lovely collection of Jazz 45s.

A 1961 German Brunswick EP collecting four tracks from 1931 -- two by Luis Russell's Orchestra and two by Don Redman's Orchestra. Russell's New Orleans-rooted big band sound sits alongside Redman's pioneering arranging work, with Redman widely credited as a key figure in shaping the swing era's ensemble style. Chant Of The Weeds is the standout Russell cut.
