Mary Lou Williams recorded these four solo piano sides in New York in spring 1936, capturing her at the height of her Kansas City swing period. This is a 1955 UK Columbia EP release (SEG7608), issued as part of the label's early 45 RPM reissue programme. All four tracks -- Mary's Special, Corny Rhythm, Swingin' For Joy, and Clean Pickin' -- are Williams originals, showcasing her stride and boogie-woogie technique.
