MC Mell'O' was a London-based conscious rap artist active in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This 1990 UK 12" on Republic Records, produced and mixed by Blacksmith, features two mixes of "Open Up Your Mind" -- subtitled "The Consciousness Of One" -- plus the spoken word cut "Words Spoken." An early example of British jazzy hip-hop with a political edge.
