Memphis Minnie's I Ain't No Bad Gal sharp, assertive prewar blues from a pioneering female guitarist.

Memphis Minnie recorded prolifically from 1929 into the 1950s, shaping both country and Chicago blues. This 1988 Portrait Masters CD (PRT 465025 2) collects 12 tracks including "Me And My Chauffeur Blues" -- later sampled by Led Zeppelin for "When The Levee Breaks" -- and "Down By The Riverside". Restoration and digital production by Mark Wilder and Bob Thiele for CBS Records.
