Birth of the Cool compiles Miles Davis's nonet sessions recorded in New York between 1949 and 1950, originally issued by Capitol in 1957. Arrangements came from Gerry Mulligan, Gil Evans, and John Lewis, with the ensemble including Lee Konitz and J.J. Johnson. This is a 1990 UK Capitol Jazz CD reissue (CDP 7 92862 2), the early pressing without SID codes. Includes "Boplicity" and "Moon Dreams".
