The Mississippi Sheiks were a Black string band from Mississippi, active primarily 1930--35, led by fiddler Lonnie Chatmon and guitarist Walter Vinson. This 1985 UK Matchbox Bluesmaster Series compilation draws from Joe Bussard and Johnny Parth's 78rpm collections, presenting 1930 sessions from Shreveport, San Antonio, and Jackson. "Stop And Listen Blues" was later covered by Bo Diddley. Mono.
