The Mississippi Sheiks were a Mississippi string band active from the late 1920s, led by fiddler Lonnie Chatmon and guitarist Bo Carter. This 1987 UK Matchbox Bluesmaster Series LP draws on private 78rpm collections to compile 18 tracks recorded across four sessions between 1930 and 1934, the majority previously unreleased on LP. Sessions span San Antonio, Atlanta, Grafton, and Chicago.
