The Shape Of Jazz To Come is Ornette Coleman's debut Atlantic album, recorded in 1959 with Don Cherry, Charlie Haden, and Billy Higgins. A foundational free jazz recording, it introduced Coleman's harmolodic approach -- melody and rhythm freed from fixed chord structures. This is a 1968--73 US reissue on Atlantic, identifiable by the green and orange labels with the 1841 Broadway address.
