Michigan & Smiley were a Jamaican deejay duo -- General Smiley and Papa Michigan -- who rose through the dancehall scene in the late 1970s. Downpression, released on Greensleeves in 1982 (GREL 42), was produced by Henry "Junjo" Lawes and recorded at Channel One. The combination of Lawes and Channel One places this firmly in the roots-dancehall crossover that defined early 80s Jamaican music. Runouts are hand-etched.
