Birmingham-born reggae MC Pato Banton released Wize Up! (No Compromize) in 1990 on I.R.S. Records. Recorded at Milton Grove Studios, the album blends dancehall toasting with conscious lyrics across ten tracks, closing with a reggae reading of The Police's "Spirits in a Material World" and the Mandela tribute "Celebrate."
