Robert Johnson recorded his entire known output -- 29 songs, 41 takes -- across two 1936-37 sessions in San Antonio and Dallas. This 1997 Retro/Proper double CD compiles all 40 surviving takes, including both versions of "Cross Road Blues", "Love In Vain", and "Me And The Devil Blues". "Sweet Home Chicago" and "Dust My Broom" were covered by dozens of artists. Complete-take sets like this remain the standard way to hear the full sessions.
