Mind Games is a 2024 reissue on Edinburgh's Athens Of The North (AOTNLP 067), collecting private-press jazz-funk and soul from Roland Haynes Jr. and the Phenix ensemble. The set draws from rare original recordings, blending smooth soul-jazz with Latin-tinged funk. Closing track "Cast Your Fate To The Wind" references the Vince Guaraldi standard, here reframed in a jazz-funk setting.
