Ron Carter's Pick 'Em was recorded at Van Gelder Studio in December 1978 and released on Milestone in 1980. A self-produced leader date, it opens with a modal reading of Miles Davis's "All Blues" before moving through five Carter originals including the title track and "Eight." The Van Gelder lacquer cut is noted in the runouts.
