Roosevelt Sykes was a St. Louis-born pianist and vocalist whose rolling boogie style earned him the nickname "The Honeydripper." This 1991 Italian Blues Encore compilation draws 23 tracks from his 1945--1960 recordings, covering everything from stomping boogie piano to slow blues. Highlights include "Drivin' Wheel," later covered by Foghat and others, and the title track that gave Joe Liggins his 1945 hit.
