Rosco Gordon was a Memphis R&B pianist whose rhythmic shuffle style directly influenced early ska and rocksteady. This is an original 1957 US pressing on Duke Records (cat. 165). "Keep On Doggin'" is among his best-known sides, a rolling, syncopated groove that Jamaican producers absorbed in the early 1960s as the sound travelled south.
