Sanchez -- born Kevin Jackson in New York, raised in Jamaica -- recorded this reggae gospel reading of the 18th-century hymn in 1990, produced and arranged by Philip "Fatis" Burrell on the UK Charm label. The B-side carries the instrumental version. Burrell went on to found Xterminator Records, one of the defining imprints of 1990s dancehall.
