Shalamar's debut 1977 US 12" on Don Cornelius's Soul Train label. "Uptown Festival" is an eight-minute medley of Motown hits -- including tracks originally recorded by Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, and The Temptations -- produced and arranged by Simon Soussan. The project launched the group and gave the Soul Train brand its first major label release via RCA distribution.
