Sleepy John Estes was a Tennessee-born country blues singer and guitarist whose recordings from 1929--1940 rank among the most influential of the pre-war era. This Folkways RBF 8 compilation, released 1964 on Asch/Folkways, draws from his Bluebird and Victor sessions. "Floating Bridge" and "Milk Cow Blues" -- covered widely across blues and rock -- appear here in their original recordings.
