Sly & Robbie and The Taxi Gang released "Iatola" as a Jamaican 7" single on their own Taxi label in 1984. The rhythm track follows the duo's signature dancehall-era production style, with a dub version on the flip. Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare ran Taxi as an independent operation throughout the early 1980s, cutting records for artists including Grace Jones, Black Uhuru, and Ini Kamoze.
